In the new Piaggio Euro5 engine generation, technical intervention is no longer so easy. Without adapting the engine control unit, throttling can no longer be implemented on Piaggio Liberty, Zip 50cc or Vespa Primavera and Sprint 50cc with Euro5 injection engine. Not suitable for vehicles built after 2024 with Euro5 plus (Euro5+) emissions standard!
The BGM de-throttling kit provides a remedy and has an adapted ECU / CDI ignition box, which does NOT have to be tuned with an engine tester on the vehicle. Only a short procedure with an ignition key code is necessary. The ECU is recognized by the Piaggio readout device during a workshop visit and is not displayed as an error. To prevent the engine from over-revving, the speed of the BGM ECU is locked at 10,000 rpm.
Two anti-tamper screws are fitted to the variator cover; these are replaced by the two Piaggio OEM screws supplied. Variator rollers and clutch springs suitable for the new engine output are supplied in the kit. A sealing plug which is required on the intake manifold is included.
