The gearbox housing for the rear wheel hub from Malossi is a highly stable component made from die-cast aluminum-silicon alloy, designed for Piaggio models like Ciao, Sì, Bravo, and similar. It features a reinforced construction with additional ribs to accommodate high mechanical loads.
The housing surface is coated with a durable, textured black finish that provides corrosion protection. It comes complete with high-quality bearings (inner axle bearing 15x21x12 mm, outer 20x26x12 mm), FKM oil seals, screws, and washers to ensure precise and reliable assembly.
An integrated oil breather with an internal labyrinth and external connection ensures optimal lubrication and ventilation conditions. The housing coupling is done through five mounting screws and two sleeves, while the hub mounting screws with sealant (M10 x 18) ensure a secure connection.
Sealing is achieved using modern silicone paste (e.g., LOCTITE® SI 5926), eliminating the need for traditional gaskets, which further increases rigidity and reliability. Note: Operation in pure bicycle engine mode is not possible with this housing.
