The aim of the development is to improve the braking performance compared to the original brake disc. EBC uses low carbon HPSR steel with a 18% higher coefficient of friction. This steel is much more resistant to rust than cast steel. In addition, the entire surface is protected with a 3 micron thick zinc layer, which abrades itself in the area of the brake pad contact zone during braking. Only in this area can more easily rust form during prolonged life.

The brake discs are drilled in Vogelschwingendesign to get along with as few holes as possible while optimizing cleaning of the brake disc of rainwater and brake dust. The fewer holes are fitted, the better the wet braking and the lower the wear.
