The aim of the development is to improve the braking behavior compared to the original brake disc. EBC uses heat-treated carbon steel for the MX Contour brake discs. This steel is much more resistant to rust than cast steel.

In addition, the entire surface is protected with a 3 micron thick layer of zinc, which grinds off in the brake pad contact zone when the brakes are applied.

Only in this area can slight rust film form during longer periods of use.

The brake discs are drilled in a bird's-eye design in order to minimize the number of holes while at the same time optimizing the cleaning of the brake disc from rainwater and brake dust. The fewer holes there are, the better the wet braking performance and the lower the wear.

The floating brake discs are equipped with EBC's unique and patented SD system, whose square rivets in the recesses of the brake disc allow unrestricted expansion of the outer and inner ring under the heat generated during braking without impairing the riveted joint
