LOCTITE® Surface Seal 518
Elastic surface sealing for medium to high strength joints. Its highly viscous shape makes it ideal for vertical surfaces and overhead work.
One-component, medium-strength anaerobic sealant that cures with a tight seal between metal surfaces. Typical applications include the sealing of tight joints between rigid metallic sealing surfaces and flange surfaces. Immediately after flange mounting, tightness is provided against low pressures. Typical application is the production of liquid gaskets on torsionally rigid flange connections, eg gearbox and motor housing etc. Due to its thixotropic behavior, Loctite® 518 reduces the migration of the liquid product after application to the part.
A surface seal is a sealant between two flanges mounted with screws. Surface seals prevent the escape of gaseous and liquid media by completely filling the space between the flange surfaces. These seals must therefore remain intact and tight throughout the life of the connection. The surface seal must be resistant to the medium to be sealed, as well as to the operating temperatures, pressure ratios and relative movements or deformations of the parts.
